Personal use rights
Client is granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license for personal, non-commercial use only. Images may not be used for business promotion, advertising, resale, or any revenue-generating activity.
Standard Commercial use
Client is granted a non-exclusive license to use images for business promotion and marketing within agreed channels. Resale, redistribution, or sublicensing is not permitted.
Extended Commercial Rights
Client is granted permission to use images in paid advertising and promotional campaigns for the duration, territory, and media specified in this agreement. Any use outside these terms requires additional licensing.
Exclusive Rights
Client is granted exclusive usage rights for the agreed scope, duration, and territory. Photographer will not license or sell the images to any other party during this period. Optional full copyright transfer can be arranged.

Use images in paid campaigns, national marketing, billboards, or large-audience promotions
Limited to the agreed duration, territory, and media
Additional licensing required for uses outside these terms

Exclusive rights for your agreed scope and duration
Photographer will not license the Work to anyone else

Use the images anywhere, for any purpose
General Guidelines
Minor alterations like cropping or resizing are allowed; major edits require permission
Always credit North and Wild when sharing online when practical
Images remain copyrighted unless full transfer is purchased
AI/ML usage is prohibited unless explicitly licensed

Photography Client Legal & Usage Information
1. Image License & Usage Rights
When you receive photographs from North and Wild, you are granted a license to use the images, not ownership of the copyright, unless otherwise stated in writing.
Your license may allow personal use, standard commercial use, extended commercial/advertising use, or exclusive rights, depending on your agreement.
Unless otherwise specified in your contract or license:
You MAY:
- Use images for the intended personal or business purpose under your license type
- Display images online or in print
- Share images with vendors involved in your project
- Resize or crop for layout or display purposes
You MAY NOT:
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute images beyond your license
- Claim authorship or copyright ownership
- Submit images to stock photography libraries
- Use images in illegal, misleading, or defamatory ways
- Use images to train artificial intelligence systems or in AI generative platforms

2. Copyright & Ownership
All photographs remain the intellectual property and copyright of North and Wild, unless a written copyright transfer is executed.
Purchasing photography or receiving image files does not transfer copyright ownership, except under exclusive rights with a documented buyout.
RAW, unedited, or working files are not included unless specifically agreed in writing.
3. Model Releases & Permissions
Clients are responsible for obtaining proper permissions for:
- Recognizable individuals
- Private property
- Trademarks or branded environments
- Restricted or private locations
Commercial use may require signed model or property releases. North and Wild is not responsible for unauthorized commercial use if required releases were not obtained.
4. Editing, Alterations & AI Use
Unless otherwise stated in writing:
Allowed:
- Cropping for layout or social media
- Minor color adjustments for print or online use
- Resizing for display or marketing purposes
Not Allowed:
- Heavy retouching or stylistic filters that alter artistic intent
- Removing watermarks
- Altering images to misrepresent photographer style or content
- Using images to train AI systems or generative platforms
If additional modifications are required, request them in writing.
5. Credit & Attribution
Credit is appreciated but not always required, unless specified in your contract or license.

6. Image Delivery & File Handling
Images are delivered in the format specified in your agreement.
Important notes:
- Screen and print colors may vary due to calibration differences
- Download links remain active for a limited time
- Clients are responsible for backing up delivered files
- Archived files may be deleted after the stated retention period
File recovery or re-delivery may involve a service fee.
7. Payments, Cancellations & Rescheduling
Unless otherwise stated in your contract:
- Retainers or booking fees are non-refundable
- Rescheduling may be allowed within the agreed notice period
- Late payments may incur fees
Work may be paused until balances are paid. Full terms are outlined in your signed agreement.
8. Limitation of Liability
North and Wild makes every reasonable effort to provide high-quality services but is not liable for circumstances beyond control, including:
- Equipment malfunction
- Data loss despite backup procedures
- Weather conditions
- Location restrictions
- Illness or emergencies
- Third-party interference
Maximum liability is limited to the total amount paid for the affected service.
9. Prohibited Uses
Images may not be used for:
- Unlawful activity
- Defamation, harassment, or misleading representation
- Political or sensitive endorsements without permission
- Resale, redistribution, or sublicensing beyond your license
- Trademark or logo registration
Unauthorized use may result in license termination and legal action.
10. Refund Policy (Digital Images)
Due to the nature of digital photography, delivered images are generally non-refundable.
Service-related concerns must be raised within the timeframe stated in your agreement.
11. Portfolio & Promotional Use
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, North and Wild reserves the right to display images for:
- Portfolio use
- Website galleries
- Social media
- Marketing materials
- Professional competition or publication
- Privacy restrictions must be agreed upon before the session.
12. Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for:
- Obtaining location permits if required
- Securing access to venues
- Ensuring participant cooperation
- Providing accurate scheduling information
Delays or restrictions caused by client oversight may impact results.
13. Governing Law
All services, licenses, and disputes are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction specified in the signed agreement, or Alaska, USA.
14. Policy Updates
Policies may be updated periodically. The version in effect at the time of booking or licensing applies unless otherwise stated.
