I'm so happy you're here
There is something magical about capturing a moment in time. The memory, the joy, the pain, or the love involved deserves special attention. I want to be the person to help capture those memories for you. Create real authentic art so you can share it with your loved ones or just yourself, now, in a year, or to look back on in our golden years.
Laura
Hi there, I’m Laura—an equine, portrait, and wedding photographer with a passion for capturing amazing memories of your favorite people and animals.
I believe you deserve more than just a cookie-cutter photography experience. You deserve to be treated like the badass individual you are, not just another client in line. Photographs are frozen moments in time that reflect the love, pain, joy, and every other aspect we have in that time in our life. Which is why to me, being able to capture it is so special and important.
I know we all have thousands of photos on our phone, and some are amazing and capture the joy, but having a portrait of your loved one, best horse, favorite location, or your hobby you would be happy to die doing, one that if you wanted, could print as large as you stand tall... Is super cool.
Though I photograph other occasions such as weddings, families, events and more, I specialize in Equine and Rodeo Photography, but I capture so much more! I have have been lucky enough to have owned horses since I was a child, went to school for Equine Science, competed in Reining, Cutting, and other horse sports in the lower 48, along with assisting with brandings and helping ranching operations. Had my own training operation starting colts, but when I moved to Alaska, at that time there wasn't as high a need for trainers nor was there a reining circuit. My mare wanted something to do, so I took my little reining / pleasure bred mare and told her we were going to run barrels and grand entry for Rodeo Alaska (she gave her best and didn't do half bad). Today I still have horses and ride, and hope to compete on my gelding when he is ready, hopefully 2026!
If you need to find me at a rodeo, just look for the photographer laying in the dirt on purpose trying to get the best shot.
If you want a pro tip on how to get some great shots.. get in the dirt, lay down in the grass, the snow, or sit on the back of your trusty horse with a camera in each hand and she let's you guide her basically bridle-less through mountain trails.
My mare Strawberry and I in 2011. Back then we did a lot of reining and cutting in NVRHA and college events. This photo was captured by Erin with my point and shoot
Strawberry loves to give me a good pose while I run away from her during a glacier trail ride and she knows she just needs to stand there and look perfectly away to get that angle.
